Quick and easy kitchen declutter
If you want fast, satisfying result this cupboard cleanse will be just the ticket! Ensure you have a clear work surface to use and the results will ensure you've got room for all your favourite treats and you don't have out of date items taking up valuable space.
My advice would be to pick a cupboard and set aside half an hour to completely empty it on to a clear table, worktop or other surface.
Firstly throw out anything out of date or that you know you’re not going to use (see below for a solution for food waste).
Group items together to make it easier to find what you need (e.g baking items together, tins together etc etc) and also think about items you use most often as you’ll want these within easy reach.
Once you know what needs to be stored you can put everything away in the best way for you and your family, taking into consideration how often things are used, heights of family members and so on.
Top tips!
Using baskets and tubs are often perfect in cupboards as they can be easily labelled and also pulled out to remove items within them rather than fighting your way to the back of a space for a tin of beans!
A great resource when decluttering the kitchen is using the olio app to give away food that may be in date but that you have decided you don't want. It’s really easy to use and helps reduce food waste which is very important.
If you have a compost bin make sure you use it! Again, reducing food waste is one of the most impactful things we can all do to be a bit more green so if you have space for one, I’d urge you to invest!
Just do one cupboard. Chances are you’ll want to continue after the first but decluttering can become easily overwhelming so focussing on a cupboard at a time reduced this chance.
If it can be labelled -label it. Extra labelling helps us to easily see what and where items are which in turn means they’re less likely to be forgotten about or overstocked.
Good luck and enjoy!
